TfL’S PROPOSAL

The proposal:

  • In 2019, TfL proposed a cycle superhighway (CS10).
  • Local residents firmly said ‘no’, given the local issues it created.
  • TfL are now proposing a cycleway on Shepherd’s Bush Green, Holland Park Roundabout and into Holland Park Avenue (view detailed slides here)

Our concerns

  • Whilst we applaud TfL’s aim to make cycling safer, encourage walking, cycling and public transport, and make London greener and healthier, we don’t believe that the new proposal will achieve these aims.
  • We believe that the alternative proposal is a better solution for cyclists, other road users and local residents, and less costly and disruptive to build (view alternative here)

TfL are proposing to

Remove 3 traffic lanes

  • One on Holland Park Avenue heading westbound.
  • One on the roundabout (the innermost traffic lane).
  • One on Shepherd’s Bush Green heading westbound.

Introduce

  • A two-way cycle lane from Holland Park Avenue along the southern side the Roundabout.
  • Bike crossings with separate cycle signals at existing traffic lights at junctions.
  • A priority bus lane heading Westbound on Shepherd’s Bush Green.

Retain the 2 existing cycle ways

  • on the south side of the roundabout
  • and in the north side underpass.

Who will win and lose?

Everyone will lose

Bus users – Increased journey times.
Local motorists, emergency vehicles and delivery vans – Stuck in tailbacks.
Local businesses – Risking the closure of some local shops.
Local residents – More vehicles using their residential streets.
